BOULDERING

Bouldering training plans, built for your goal

Bouldering rewards short, maximal bursts over a crash pad rather than the rope-endurance and pacing that route climbing demands, so training should chase raw power and contact strength, not laps. SportBlox builds your bouldering training plan around your goal, current grade and weaknesses.

Who it's for

Who it's for

Breaking a grade plateau

Max-power limit bouldering and campus board work to push past a stuck V-grade.

Building contact strength

Fingerboard and crimp-specific strength to hold onto smaller, harder holds.

First time in a bouldering gym

General strength and movement basics to build confidence before chasing grades.

Personalisation

How SportBlox personalises it

Your goal & event date

Sessions build toward the specific goal and date you set, with a taper if you're racing or competing.

Your skill level

Volume and intensity scale to where you actually are, from Inexperienced to Professional.

Your stated weaknesses

Tell SportBlox about things like contact strength on crimps, explosive power off the ground, core tension on steep overhangs, reading dynamic movement/beta and the plan weights sessions toward fixing them.

Your schedule

The plan fits the days and time you say you have — not an idealised training week.

FAQ

Bouldering training plan FAQ

How many sessions per week does a bouldering plan include?

Typically 4-6, mixing limit bouldering, hangboard or campus strength and at least one full recovery day given how taxing max-power sessions are.

Do I need a fingerboard or campus board?

Flag what you have access to and SportBlox builds around it — with a fingerboard it includes max hangs, without one it substitutes gym-based finger and grip strength work.

Is this suitable for someone new to bouldering?

Yes, set your skill level to Inexperienced and the plan prioritises movement fundamentals and general strength over intense finger loading.

Can this fit around my bouldering gym's group sessions?

Yes — tell SportBlox which days you already climb at your gym and it schedules strength and recovery work around them rather than duplicating volume.

How is this different from a general climbing plan?

Bouldering plans skip the endurance-lap and multi-pitch work a route-climbing plan includes, weighting almost everything toward maximal strength, power and short-burst movement instead.
